Meehan’s Black Flip Recipe, Cruzan Strap Rum

I don’t know about you, but I’ve been falling more and more in love with Rum. Cruzan Strap Rum is no slouch either! I’ve been trying different recipes out and they’ve given me this one to try. Needless to say, I’m glad I did. Perhaps it will fall into the Holiday Rotation for you as it did for me.

Created by mixologist Jim Meehan in NYC, NY, Meehan’s Black Flip, this drink brings the best of both worlds incorporating the smooth, rich flavor of Cruzan Black Strap Rum with a bold stout that is ideal for the transition to fall. You won’t be disappointed.

Meehan’s Black Flip

Ingredients:

1½ parts Cruzan Black Strap Rum

2 parts Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout

½ part Demerara syrup

1 whole Egg

Method:

Combine ingredients in a mixing glass and swirl to decarbonate beer. Dry shake. Add ice and shake again, then strain into a chilled fizz glass. Garnish foamy top with grated nutmeg.

With the fall fully upon us, this is the perfect example of a drink that pulls the heartstrings of summer while giving you the warming sensation needed on a cold winter night. Enjoyable on a lazy weekend day while watching football as much as it is sipping during a movie while snuggled up next to the fire.
